The officials are worried, there is talk future ARL test matches could be moved to Queensland and even 2 Origin matches a year could be played up north.
Why?
Its all down to the Sydney crowds, 2008 hasn't been an ideal year for NRL crowds and it has officials worried. Usually NRL Results are the thing that will turn the crowd away or bring them in, but it seems the economy and poor weather are turning supporters away in droves.
Sydney has never been a strong at the game type of supporter state, unlike Melbourne and Brisbane - the Sydney folk tend to watch Rugby League on Television either through the Channel 9 NRL coverage or the Foxtel NRL Network.
But this Friday, the Centenary test match (Australia vs New Zealand) at the SCG is critically important to the game. Exactly 100 years since the birth of Rugby League - this is the true centenary. So Sydney-siders, get to the game and support this once in 100 year event.
This should be a cracker game, the likes of Sonny Bill Williams, Issac Luke and Nathan Cayless able to give the Kiwi side more firepower and prove a true opponent to the strong Australian side.
Punters will love the $4.50 being paid on the Kiwis - so either way, you simply need to be there for this game.
Lets get it on.
