State of Origin
May 20th 2008 11:04
State of Origin is also a single night away and as the Queensland and NSW teams remain deep in camp everything NRL will cease to exist for 24 hours or more - as inter-state Rugby League fires up on the eastern seaboard of Australia.
Once again sponsored by Harvey Norman; the State of Origin series is the pinnacle of Rugby League. In 2008, there will be 2 games in NSW at ANZ Stadium (Formerly Telstra Stadium) and a single game at Suncorp Stadium (Formerly Lang Park) giving the Blues a slight edge.
The Queensland Maroons have only won a single game at the ANZ / Telstra Stadium venue - something which shall weigh heavily into result of this match. So forget the NRL Results and where your team is on the NRL Table - and settle back to see what is always an epic battle.
NSW have picked a physical 'in your face' style Rugby League team; the likes of Willie Mason, Greg Bird and Paul Gallen fit that bill well. Queensland on the other hand have some of the heavy strike weapons on the edges with an extremely talented backline incorporating Israel Folau, Greg Inglis and Justin Hodges.
A crowd of close to 70,000 is expected at the ANZ Stadium and the television rights to this game are broadcast into many countries around the world. Including; the USA, New Zealand, UK and France.
