The State of Origin Teams from NSW and Queensland have been announced for the 2008 Harvey Norman State of Origin Series opener at ANZ Stadium Sydney.
The biggest surprise was NRL youngster Peter Wallace gaining the halfback spot for NSW ahead of Brett Finch and Matt Orford, or even Jarrod Mullen who was blooded by NSW last year for the first time.
In the Queensland Maroon camp, they have chosen to run with Karmichael Hunt after deliberating long and hard about combining Scott Prince and Jonathan Thurston together after Darren Lockyer was injured.
Regardless, forget NRL Results for a moment - this is set to be a huge series, and the State of Origin concept always brings the best out of players and fans.
Tony Archer is the referee to control the series and Queensland will again start favourites to win even though the first game is in Sydney at Homebush.
Boasting an Australian Kangaroo backline, the Queenslanders look to be very potent on the edges and possess plenty of scoring power.
