Parramatta Eels too strong for NRL minnows St George Illawarra Dragons

It was an NRL game that didn't have a tonne of flair or class, this was basically two struggling teams fighting it out for the NRL results. The points to climb the ladder and somehow get them on the roll they needed.
Here you had the Eels, a form side of 2007 and expected to be challengers to the Storms crown this year - yet barely raising a whimper in recent months as they fight to stay in touch with the NRL Top 8.
For the Dragons, they have always had a top team on paper yet seemingly always struggle to get the best results every year.
It was no different yesterday, where the Red Vee did everything they could to lose the game. They were probably the better team on the day but basically just couldn't score enough tries.
Mark Gasnier was in his best form, proving dangerous on every touch and making his opposite Jarryd Hayne look very average - the young Eel left clutching air on several occasions. Half Jamie Soward and Ben Hornby both played strongly and setup several line breaks.
The other outside centre Matt Cooper was damaging and everything look good for the Dragons except on the scoreboard.
For the Eels, a scratchy 19-18 win is enough to keep them afloat and keep confidence bubbling towards the positive zone.
The Eels face the Sydney Roosters this Friday night and will be hoping State of Origin players such as Willie Mason, Anthony Tupou, Mitchell Pearce and Braith Anasta all make the state side to give them an easier path to more NRL wins.
