In an amazing story, it has been revealed that NRL player and Cronulla Sharks livewire Brett Kearney has suffered two fractured skull injuries before and had major surgery to repair the delicate damage.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Kearney had his first injury while still in the junior grades - hitting a team mates knee and bashing his skull. After major surgery, the same injury was suffered again - this time at South Sydney. Kearney clashing heads with Lee Hookey and doing exactly the same injury.
Even after pleas from his mother to quit or wear headgear, Kearney kept soldiering on. The talented back is now a real star for the Sharks - getting good metres each week and proving their best weapon in attack.
After several weeks of the NRL in 2008, the NRL Results have been good for the Sharks - they are right up there with the big names and looking like a side that has the defence to win this year - putting them in good stead for the Top 8 come the business end of the Telstra Premiership
