NRL competition from IPL this year

March 17th 2009 12:56
While NRL and Rugby League have been the most popular winter sports in Australia for many years, the rival cricket code has rarely gone head to head due to the seasons of winter and summer for each.

However, with the Indian Premier League (IPL) crickets big new attraction about the get underway and Channel 10 signing up IPL on HD channels (the new OneHD) 24 hour sports channel, Australians will have some choices.

Will it be Greg Inglis on the TV screens or perhaps Mahendra Singh Dhoni lighting up screens with a big cricket shot?

Such is the choices for sporting viewers now, and the NRL will be watching closely to ensure they aren't losing any market share.

Rugby League World Cup

September 2nd 2008 10:49
World Cup Club Challenge
After every NRL Grand Final every Australian team who have won the competition have always travelled to England to take on the English super league champions. The Australian team are always at a disadvantage with the English teams already at the start of their domestic competition, they are match fit and harden ,where as the Australians teams do not have sufficient preparation for the match and are always beaten by the English sides, which does not give a true indication who the club champions are.If the English clubs are so dominate over the Australian teams , then the English
International teams should be of a more dominant force on the international games

Sonny Bill Williams lost to NRL

August 7th 2008 10:30
The Sonny Bill Williams saga drags on; lost to Rugby League - the Bulldogs and NRL. The Rugby Union traitor has been a hot topic on news channels throughout Australia, New Zealand and France in the past 2 weeks.

The Channel 9 Footy Show in Sydney has managed to secure an interview with Sonny Bill Williams; prominent reporter Danny Wiedler was the obvious choice for SBW and his team to liaise with - Wiedler unlike other journalists such as Phil Gould or Andrew Voss rarely asks the tough questions and manages to secure interviews with players such as Willie Mason and SBW purely through his 'softly' approach and befriending the player

Racism Unfortunately Returns

Petero Civoniceva was racially abused by a spectator in the crowd at Parramatta Stadium last Sunday. He was called a “monkey”. Civoniceva asked the fan to repeat what he had just said and he did. "I lost my cool," Civoniceva said. "I can cop some abuse but not like that. I hit the beer away. I'm disappointed I did it. There were young families close by and I don't want the kids being scarred with that memory of going to the footy. I will write a letter to Parramatta to apologise to the families who saw it
