Prominent Brisbane Broncos fullback Karmichael Hunt now looks in doubt for the big NRL clash with the North Queensland Cowboys after coming down with an injury only a day after beating the charges at the NRL judiciary.
Hunt would no doubt be a huge loss to the Broncos who look all set to crush the Cowboys and send them to a 0-3 record, losing all three opening games of the NRL season 2008 campaign. Suffering big losses to the Gold Coast Titans in NRL Round 1 2008 and then a big loss to the Wests Tigers in Townsville in NRL Round 2 2008.
The Cowboys are still reeling from coach talk, as long term mentor Graham Murray is set to leave the club at the end of the year and still in search of a contract to sign with another club.
On the Broncos side of the fence, they are frustrated at possibly losing Hunt after spending so much time and money on getting him off the NRL judiciary charges only 24 hours earlier. It was the first time in 14 years the Broncos have had success at the judiciary panel in Sydney.
In other footy talk, Broncos coach Wayne Bennett is reported to be in heavy talks with St George Illawarra Dragons over a coaching role to replace Nathan Brown next year. Bennett has some connections with the Dragons and Peter Doubst and barring financial troubles at Saints, he should come on board it looks at this stage.
