It all started when Wayne Bennett announced he is quitting the Broncos at the end of 2008. Instantly many coaches were looking over their shoulder, as Bennett one of the NRL's finest coaches was on the market next year.
However, it's the NRL clubs that have pressed the panic button. Today the Warriors, fearful of losing gun coach Ivan Cleary - moved to resign their head coach, to ward off approaches by Brisbane and other clubs.
It's a similar story in Melbourne. The Storm went straight to Bellamy to confirm if he is committed beyond this year and they got a solid response from their leading NRL coach, the premiership winning Bellamy confirming his committment to the Storm for the next 2 years.
Spare a thought for Steve Folkes, who has been given 7 weeks to make an impact with the Bulldogs before the board decides on his future. Certainly Bennett will be on their mind of results go bad for Folkes this year.
What a job? They might get paid well, but they get little sleep and are forever looking over their shoulder. And we haven't even mentioned Nathan Brown or Brian Smith yet! NRL Rugby League - it's a cut throat game.
