It was a tale of two fortunates. Brisbane Bronco Karmichael Hunt escaping a ban for his shoulder charge gone wrong on Braith Anasta. The NRL Judiciary found that Hunt had no time to readjust for the hit as Anasta fell into the tackle.
Hunt was defended by former judiciary boss Jim Hall and scientist Tim Gabbett as the team worked well to have Karmichael relieved of any charge or match ban. He will slip straight into the side for the blockbuster NRL Round 3 clash with the North Queensland Cowboys. It was the first time in 14 years the Broncos have been successful at the NRL judiciary.
For Melbourne Storm and Brett White it was a night of failure at the judiciary. White didn't fight the actual charge, but simply contested the grading of his striking charge on Ben Ross. The judiciary found the White had plenty of time 'to think about' was he was doing before reacting and that he cannot be a vigilante on the NRL field - nor can any other player.
Brett White will now miss 4 weeks, something that may hurt his Storm team as they try to get a roll on as their NRL Results have been shakey after a shock loss to Cronulla at Olympic Park last week.
The Storm face Brad Fittler's Sydney Roosters in Sydney as they try to get their winning ways and 2008 NRL Premiership campaign back on track.
