The Cronulla Sharks have traveled to Townsville and accounted for the North Queensland Cowboys with key players Greg Bird and Paul Gallen both backing up from the Centenary Test at the SCG only 24 hours before.
While Carl Webb and Jonathan Thurston were also backing up, many NRL and Rugby League experts felt the home ground advantage and form of the Cowboys would be too much for Ricky Stuart and his well drilled men.
Cronulla have had the best defence so far in 2008, but it was their attack that finally clicked into gear last night. The Sharks had put on 22 points by half time and well and truly secured the victory. The Cowboys, who at one stage won three games on trot - now have tickets back to the cellar of the NRL Ladder, poor NRL Results have no seen them remain on 6 competition points - well back from the rest of the field.
